Battling false allegations of domestic violence against children

Child abuse is a difficult subject for parents to think about and most would never stoop to making false allegations against his or her spouse. Unfortunately, family law issues like divorce or child custody can negatively change the character of even the most honest people. Allegations of domestic violence or outright child abuse have become a powerful weapon that many divorcing spouses wield with a vengeance.

The victims of these false allegations are dealt a severe blow from which it is difficult to recover. In some cases, the people against whom these claims have been made are shocked into a form of paralysis, unable to act or mount an effective divorce. Or worse, some victims react in a manner that exacerbates the predicament. For example, lashing out or losing control, even in an effort to disprove the claims can worsen the situation.

Even though it may feel nearly impossible, there is a better approach. Instead of letting your anger and shock get the best of you, try to remain calm. If you do not already have a lawyer, we urge you to acquire representation at once. If you do have an attorney, contact him or her and report the situation. We also urge you not to break off contact with your children. You probably feel that your every move is being watched, but remember that your kids need you, especially if you are in the middle of a divorce.

We know how hard it can be to fight back against fictitious allegations of domestic violence, but it is necessary in order to maintain a healthy and loving relationship with your children. Visit our website to find out how the law can help you overcome the claims against you.
